Week 1 Curation

So I definitely think that this defines me when it comes to curation. Now I know how to bookmark and I know how to share things but as far as creating shortcuts to the links I am struggling!!!! I may be the only one too..oops.
I tried it with the image and got nowhere...

Growth Mindset.

Before watching the video, I never heard of Carol but after watching the video I felt like I knew her. This video was truly amazing. It made me think a lot about personal goals that I had set for myself this year. It made me think about how my learning has changed  while at OU. I've definitely had to adapt but I think that's something that we all go through we coming to a new place you have to see what works for you and just go with it. My biggest challenge with learning is just being open to different ideas and how things work. It's sometimes hard for me to think of something one way when I like to think of it my way. But like I said it's all about adapting.

Storybook Favorites

One storybook that I looked at was Law and Order: SSU. I decided to go with this one, mainly because of the title but also because it gave a sort of mystery feel to it that I’ve never really looked into before.  I think looking at the different agent’s profiles gave me some good insight and the author did a great job of connecting that in the introduction; because I definitely don’t know much about the people of Ayodha so it will be interesting to learn more about that city.

The next book I decided to look at was Criminal Investigation. I bet you figured out my pattern by now, but I love mysteries and the title quickly drew me in. I like how the author made it feel like it was an actual crime scene but made sure to stay in the context of the different people he or she was talking about. Reading the file of Bhumi made me feel like I was on the scene looking at everything the character was. It was definitely something I enjoyed reading.

Lastly, I looked at Sita: A Song of Valor. I chose this one because it was something that I didn’t know much about but at the same time was interested in. I think this story of Sita is very detailed and very interesting. I really liked the style of the storybook and how the author intertwined her whole life!I am very interested in knowing about the children, her marriage and just her life in general.

Overview

For me, this is my first time really diving into the Indian Culture. I'm really excited to learn about the differences and similarities that the culture might have with other ones. Also I am excited to learn about stories within a story and writing ones of my own. I am excited to learn about the prince, and Mahabhrata and all of the other resources that we have available for the course. I haven't taken any other courses about religion so this will be interesting considering my beliefs. I haven't even really listened to Indian music or seen films about it, so this is all new to me and I am anxious to get started!

Introduction

Introduction:
I am Danielle Myers and I am currently a senior at OU! Now when I first thought about this intro I thought about everything I could start with and then I got nothing as soon as I began to type. Kind of like how I’m doing now. I didn’t want to start out with the typical major, where you’re from, etc. I like to be a little different from time to time, so I thought I would start with what I did over break!

For the first time ever, I went to New Orleans, Louisiana! Crazy right? Considering I’ve been to other places like Texas, Colorado, Kansas, etc. It was my first time going down south and I loved every minute of it! I went to the Essence Music Festival and met and saw so many of my favorite celebs! I even met and got a picture with Kevin Hart! (which isn’t uploading on here, sad day!) But when I met him, I did everything to keep my composure but I definitely wanted to burst on the inside! Yes, he is actually really short in person. I’m not tall at all and he came to my shoulder. Weird much? But it was truly an amazing experience! I can’t wait to go again next year!

Okay, back to the other side of things. I am an African and African American Studies/Pre-Nuclear Medicine major. Long and confusing huh? Well, what I pray to end up doing is working as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, wait back up, Nuclear Medicine is a fancy word for Medical Imaging, like CT scans, MRIs, etc. But I hope to do that in either, sports or in pediatrics, because who wouldn’t want to work in one of those fields? SUPER EXCITING! Long story short, I apply to this Health Science center this year and I couldn’t be more excited and a bit nervous at the same time! But I am also in about 20 hours, from here on campus to other schools as well (trying to graduate struggle) and I am an RA, so this crazy balance that I have going on will hopefully work out! Well, that is about it!
